An area that I believe design patterns are perfect for is coaching. In my design pattern, I am focused on coaching in terms of a sport or physical activity, but this could definitely apply to other areas of life when some sort of coach is involved.
I adapted my pattern from Brad's technical support pattern, where I found his use of a repeatable pattern to be paramount in coaching. With any sport, you will practice, get feedback, perform, then come back to practice and feedback. That is why I really liked the repeatable pattern idea and added that to my design.
Below is my design for coaching:

Re-Designed LEM
On my re-designed LEM, I decided to add a student feedback at the end of the course. The purpose of this is for the students to convey their satisfaction of the course and if they feel it was helpful.

My First Learning Environment Model
This was a great learning experience for me. I am fairly new to all of this, and LEM is really helping me find strategies to improve my learning experience and ways that I can reach out to faculty and staff and educate them in accessibility.
I created my model for a face-to-face learning experience. This way I would be able to interact immediately with questions and concerns.
I wanted to start out with a group discussion and ask the group "What is Accessibility?" I think there is a pre-conceived idea of what it is and that it's only important with certain disabilities. So I think having an open discussion before getting started with get people thinking.
Next I would hand out or have them open up PDF docs of Section 508 policy and How To Guides. The How To Guides will be used throughout the training session.
I would then have them look at a few documents, probably a Word and PowerPoint, and identify accessibility issues that they can see. After this, I would go through and give feedback and have a discussion on the practice.
Before the evidence section, I would have another discussion on the "Importance of Accessibility". This I think will really drive home what accessibility means not just for them but the people that actually rely on it to get a proper education.
I would end the session with having them create an accessible Word and PowerPoint document. I think it would be good to have feedback and maybe even a discussion after this, even though I don't have it reflected in my model at the moment.

Learning Environment Reflection
Learning Environment Reflection
It's crazy to think, that not too long ago, I saw Learning
Environments as a traditional classroom setting. It makes sense though, that
you would learn in a classroom. However, after this first section of the
course, my eyes have been opened! Just about anywhere, virtual or physical,
could be a learning environment. From your house, to the library, or on social
media. The opportunities for learning are virtually limitless.
One type of learning platform I would like to touch on is
Social Media. For me, more specifically, Facebook. I believe that Facebook
inspires people to read or interact with topics that they might not encounter
on a daily basis. However, there is a downside...some folks tend to take things
a little too personal, and it creates a hostile environment. I tend to stay
away from situations like this, and stick with ones where people can have
intelligent and meaningful conversations. Or I just find interesting stories or
articles to read. This virtual, informal learning environment is a great way to
broaden you knowledge and expand on your ideas.
In this post:
"Herman
"Mogri" Lookout is the master language teacher for the Osage Nation
in Pawhuska, Oklahoma.
He's studied the
language for forty years and helped revitalize the written portion of it by
creating an orthography. Language teachers and experts from all over Native
America say that an orthography is a way to reclaim your sovereignty.
Lookout also
worked with developers to create Osage for Unicode. Because of that, Osages all
over the world can write and text in the language."
This is amazing, and if it hadn't been for me seeing my
friends post, I wouldn't have known about the Unicode for the Osage language. I
also did not know the meaning of orthography, so that sent me on a search to
learn what it meant.
